The Power of Application: Walking in Victory through Belief and Declaration
January 16
One of the keys to living a victorious life in Christ Jesus lies in our application of His teachings and principles. The Bible warns us that people perish due to a lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). Therefore, acquiring knowledge of God's ways is crucial, and this knowledge begins with receiving Jesus as our Lord and Savior (John 3:16).
Receiving Jesus as our Savior is a profound act of faith. It involves believing in Him even though we cannot physically see Him. When someone shares the good news of Jesus with us, a glimmer of understanding illuminates our minds, and we make the choice to accept Him (Romans 10:17). The Bible emphasizes that God desires no one to perish, but our free will allows us to choose between life and death, symbolized by receiving or rejecting Jesus (2 Peter 3:9).
At the heart of our faith in Christ is His sacrifice on the cross. Through His death, Jesus atoned for our sins and broke the sin nature passed down from Adam and Eve (Romans 5:8). The pivotal moment in human history occurred when Adam and Eve chose to disobey God's instructions by eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 3:6). This act introduced separation between God and humanity, which Jesus came to reconcile through His sacrificial death on the cross (Colossians 1:19-20).
Furthermore, Jesus' resurrection by the power of the Holy Spirit allowed Him to ascend to the heavenly places, seated next to God the Father (Ephesians 1:20-21). When we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we also take our place in that heavenly realm through an act of faith (Ephesians 2:6). Despite being in our earthly bodies, we must recognize that our spirits are seated in heavenly places. It is a daily choice to live in the physical world and operate from our spiritual position in Christ (Colossians 3:1-2).
Application of these principles begins with our words. Just as God spoke creation into existence in Genesis, we must use our mouths to align with God's Word (Proverbs 18:21). When the Bible declares, "By His stripes, we are healed" (Isaiah 53:5), we must proclaim, "By His stripes, I am healed." Similarly, when we lay hands on the sick, we say, "In the name of Jesus, be healed" (Mark 16:18). Our words serve as a bridge between heaven and earth, activating our faith in God's promises.
Although we may not always witness immediate results, our faith remains steadfast, knowing that God's Word is being set into motion. Sometimes, the process requires introspection, to find out if there are any hindering conditions in our soul. So we allow the Holy Spirit to reveal areas of sin or weakness that grant the enemy access to our lives that keep God’s benefits from occurring. We should, after the Holy Spirit revelation, therefore repent, ask forgiveness, and apply the cleansing power of Jesus' blood (1 John 1:9), declaring its efficacy over our hindering conditions.
Tithing and giving offerings are also essential aspects of application. Malachi 3:10 instructs us to bring our tithes to the storehouse, which keeps the devil from taking our provision. As we give, we should declare our offerings as an act of faith in God's promises. We give a tenth of our income to places that encourage our spiritual growth, and we support ministries that spread the Gospel and aid the less fortunate through almsgiving. These are forms of application, accompanied by the declaration of our intentions in the name of Jesus. When we give, I believe, that we should declare that we are giving in Christ name or announce a scripture like, “Give and it shall be giving unto you, good measure, pressed downed, shaken together shall men give into our lives” (Luke 6:38) or other provision scriptures.
In giving and declaring, we activate kingdom principles of provision. We activate it by believing in our hearts while speaking with our mouths (Romans 10:9) that God will abundantly bless us as we engage in the giving principle. This combination of belief and confession is fundamental to the process along with worship, thanksgiving, praise, reading His Word, and declaring it over our lives. The gift of speaking in tongues, or the prayer language, can also aid us when we lack understanding regarding a matter, and is also an application principle, as it allows the Holy Spirit to intercede on our behalf (1 Corinthians 14:2).
In conclusion, applying the principles of believing and declaring the word of God is paramount. Merely receiving Jesus as our Savior is just the beginning (James 1:22). We must continually walk in His ways, confident that our knowledge and application of God's Word will lead us to a victorious life. Through faith and declaration, we align ourselves with heavenly realities and claim the promises of God (Hebrews 11:1). In this journey of faith, we draw nearer to God by applying kingdom principles, knowing that He will draw nearer to us (James 4:8), and we will experience His abundant blessings, healings, provisions, and transformative power in our lives.
