Transforming Your Mind Through the Word of God
July 5
On a rainy night, while meditating, I was reminded of the scripture in Romans 12:2, which says, "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." This transformation occurs through the renewing of our minds with the Word of God.
But how do we renew our minds with God's Word? John 1:14 says, "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." As we meditate on the Word, it becomes flesh in us, transforming us into the image of God's good, perfect, and acceptable will.
I've been reflecting on the concept of clouds, representing the mystery and unclear aspects of life. Often, life can seem cloudy and chaotic. Genesis 1:2-3 describes the earth as "without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, 'Let there be light'; and there was light." This illustrates how the Holy Spirit moves over chaos, waiting for God's Word to bring order and light. We can also through using our prayer language and hearing and speaking the Word of God transform our chaos into order.
We, too, come from the Word. John 1:1-3 states, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him, nothing was made that was made." This foundational truth means that our existence and everything around us are held together by God's Word. I believe, as children of God, we can awaken that word that holds us and maintains us to transform the darkness around us into light.
When we speak in our prayer language, it may sound like babbling to the world, but it is a divine language, a connection to God's realm. Jude 1:20 says, "But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit." This practice builds our faith, as does hearing the word as Romans 10:17 tells us, "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God."
Jesus demonstrated the power of being the living Word. He walked on water, raised the dead, and performed miracles because He was the Word made flesh. John 1:12 explains, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name." As we receive and grow in the Word, we become more like Jesus, embodying God's purpose and will.
The world is waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God. Romans 8:19 says, "For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God." This transformation enables us to interact with the world in supernatural ways, and taps us into the power and authority that Jesus had which enabled him to do miracles like turning water into wine, walking on water, healing the sick, and raising the dead.
I'm deeply exploring the concept of becoming one with the Word through prayer and meditation. As we immerse ourselves in God's Word and use the prayer language, we are transformed, much like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly. This transformation occurs in spirit, soul, and body. Our spirit is already perfected, but our soul needs renewal through the Word of God.
As we meditate on and speak God's Word, we grow in our heavenly identity. Ephesians 2:6 tells us, "and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus." This dual existence allows us to bring heaven's reality into our earthly lives.
Perhaps this is what happened with Enoch, who "walked with God; and he was not, for God took him" (Genesis 5:24) into his heavenly reality. His faith pleased God, as Hebrews 11:5-6 states, "By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, 'and was not found, because God had taken him'; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God. But without faith, it is impossible to please Him” as the scripture says.
Even a small amount of faith can bring about profound changes, transforming our lives and the world around us.
