Rediscovering Eden: Embracing Authority and Life through Christ

July 28

In the tale of Adam and Eve, humanity's fall from grace might have barred us from the original Eden, but through Jesus Christ, we are offered the chance to forge a new Eden here on Earth. Adam and Eve's decision introduced sin, resulting in death and destruction, and effectively handed the keys of authority and power to the devil. However, the narrative didn't end there; Jesus Christ came to restore what was lost and offer life in abundance.

Despite the allure of the forbidden tree in Eden, which led to mankind's downfall, Jesus presents us with a new choice—the choice to embrace Him and reclaim the life intended for us. As it was with the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, our destiny hinges on our decisions. In our DNA resides the original sin, a reminder of our shared fallibility, but also a call to redemption through conscious choice and divine grace.

Jesus is described in the Scriptures as "the way, the truth, and the life" (John 14:6), asserting that no one can reach the Father except through Him. This declaration isn't merely about salvation; it's an invitation to access the tree of life, which Adam and Eve were barred from after their sin. Through Christ's sacrifice, symbolized by the cross, we regain not just life but abundant and eternal life.

The cross, where Jesus triumphed over death, isn't just an emblem of sacrifice; it is the pivotal point of resurrection and restoration. With Jesus’ resurrection, empowered by the Holy Spirit, the cross now stands empty, a testament to the power of life over death. In Him, we find the keys to bind and loose, to conquer and reclaim authority that the devil once stole from us.

We are called to be more than conquerors, capable of doing all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13). This empowerment is further affirmed by the anointing from the Holy One, enabling us to know all things through divine revelation. As believers, we aren't just restored to our original state but are also entrusted with the authority to "take the kingdom by storm" and to do so "violently" in spiritual terms, recognizing and utilizing our God-given power and authority.

In unity, our strength is magnified, as illustrated by the scripture, "One can chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight" (Deuteronomy 32:30), highlighting the exponential power of collective faith and action. God’s plan for us is not to live in fear or defeat but to stand firm on His Word, which endures forever.

In moments of chaos and uncertainty, when the world seems to be spiraling out of control, we are reminded not to fear. For even in the darkest places, if we find ourselves making a metaphorical "bed in hell," God is there (Psalm 139:8). Through Christ, we can transform our circumstances, creating our Eden here on Earth, where we partake of the tree of life rather than the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Thus, in embracing Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we accept a new nature—one that is defined not by our past missteps but by our current identity in Christ. In Him, we reclaim the authority and life that were always meant to be ours.
