Engaging with the Spiritual Realm: Accessing Time and Space through Faith

May 20

In exploring the spirit realm, we can transport ourselves into the past, future, and present. This realm of possibilities becomes accessible when we align ourselves with God, for with Him, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26).

Biblical Precedents of Spiritual Travel

The Bible offers numerous examples of individuals accessing the future or heavenly realms. John in Revelation witnessed future events (Revelation 1:10), and in the Old Testament, the sun reversed its course as a sign to King Hezekiah (2 Kings 20:8-11). These events emphasize that time and space are malleable within the spiritual realm, accessible through Jesus Christ.

Accessing the Spiritual Realm through Jesus

The death of Jesus Christ tore the temple veil, symbolizing the removal of barriers between God and humanity (Matthew 27:51). Jesus declared, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). This exclusive access to God ensures our spiritual safety. As believers, when we receive Jesus, our spirit is renewed, and we become new creations (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Engaging the Spirit through the Soul

Our soul, consisting of the mind, will, and emotions, interacts with the spirit by engaging with the Word of God. Jesus said, “The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life” (John 6:63). The Bible, as our spiritual manual, guides us in connecting our soul to the spirit.

Spiritual Healing and Transformation

By reading and meditating on the Word of God, our soul begins to reflect the spirit. Jesus’ words heal and renew our soul, bringing physical and spiritual transformation. Jesus emphasized that even thoughts of sin are equivalent to physical acts in God’s eyes (Matthew 5:28). This principle shows that our inner life can have tangible spiritual effects.

Redeeming the Past and Shaping the Future

Through spiritual engagement, we can address past wrongs. Asking God to heal our soul from past sins, such as cheating or stealing, allows us to experience spiritual redemption. This process is akin to time travel, as we bring past issues to God for healing through the blood of Jesus.

Supernatural Travel and Intercession

The Bible also provides instances of supernatural travel. Philip was transported by the Spirit after baptizing the Ethiopian eunuch (Acts 8:39-40), and Jesus and His disciples miraculously arrived at their destination (John 6:21). While physical transportation might occur, spiritual intercession is more accessible. As Paul mentioned, “Though absent in body, I am present in spirit” (1 Corinthians 5:3). This spiritual presence enables us to pray for others, regardless of physical location.

Engaging in Spiritual Warfare and Intercession

Believers are called to intercede for others, engaging in spiritual warfare against the forces of darkness. The Bible teaches that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces (Ephesians 6:12). By praying in the spirit and binding negative influences, we can bring God’s healing and deliverance to those in need.

Authority in Heavenly Places

Scripture declares that we are seated in heavenly places with Christ (Ephesians 2:6), signifying our authority in the spiritual realm. This position allows us to affect change on earth through spiritual means, reinforcing the victory Jesus won on the cross.

Focus and Intention in Spiritual Engagement

Effective spiritual engagement requires focus and intention. We must diligently seek God through prayer, worship, and studying His Word. Elijah’s earnest prayer brought rain after a long drought (James 5:17-18). Similarly, our intentional focus on God’s promises enables us to enact change in our lives and the world around us.

Conclusion

The journey into the spiritual realm begins with our soul connecting to our spirit through the Word of God. As we engage in this divine relationship, we experience healing, transformation, and the ability to intercede for others. By aligning ourselves with God’s purposes, we can transcend the physical limitations of time and space, bringing His kingdom to earth. With faith as our foundation, we can confidently navigate the spiritual realm, knowing that with God, all things are possible (Philippians 4:13).
