Quality Time with God: A Path to Spiritual Growth

May 27

Spending quality time with the Lord has a profound impact on our lives. If we only engage in a hit-and-miss approach, our spiritual growth will reflect that inconsistency. However, dedicating quality time to meditate, praise, thank, worship, focus, listen, read, and declare God's Word leads to significant transformation in our lives. This is illustrated by the story of Mary and Martha. Mary, who sat at Jesus' feet and listened to Him, chose the better part by seeking quality time with the Lord, unlike Martha, who was preoccupied with various tasks and missed the most important thing.

"Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you" (Matthew 6:33). This verse highlights the importance of prioritizing our relationship with God. Mary exemplified this by seeking God above all else. Understanding the kingdom of God is crucial. "The kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit" (Romans 14:17). We receive righteousness through Christ Jesus, who is our peace. "Peace be still" (Mark 4:39), and we find joy in the Lord, for "the joy of the Lord is our strength" (Nehemiah 8:10). These blessings are obtained by spending time in the secret place, communing and fellowshipping with God.

Even though we cannot see God physically, we come to know Him deeply by drawing near to Him. "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you" (James 4:8). This closeness allows us to grow in our spiritual walk. By putting God first, worshipping, and communing with Him, we fulfill the promise that "all these things shall be added to you" (Matthew 6:33). We do not need to worry; we simply need to follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is our guide and teacher, leading us to the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding necessary for our lives. He reveals truths and connects us with the people, teachers, apostles, prophets, pastors, evangelists, and the body of Christ with whom we are meant to be united. This begins with humbling ourselves before God and fellowshipping with Him daily. Even during mundane tasks or daily chores, we can use our prayer language to stay connected with God. Whether washing dishes, cleaning the house, driving to work, or going to the grocery store, we can pray for others under our breath. There is always a way to remain in communion with God.

By dedicating time to be with the Lord, we build a strong foundation in our spiritual lives, leading to peace, joy, and righteousness through the Holy Spirit. This daily fellowship and communion with God ensure that we are guided, taught, and blessed according to His will.
