Part 1: Unlocking the Patterns of Life

Part 1: Unlocking the Patterns of Life

   November 3

Today, I find myself contemplating the intricate tapestry of patterns that define our existence. Patterns, I've come to realize, are the very essence of life and the fundamental principles that govern the way things work. They are interwoven into the fabric of our world, evident in every aspect of our surroundings, from the towering trees and the ever-changing sky, the solid earth beneath our feet, the houses that provide us refuge, and even the complex design that make up our own bodies. Our journey through life itself reflects the influence of these patterns. We begin as the result of the union between a seed and an egg, a microscopic partnership that initiates a miraculous transformation within the womb. Initially, we exist as a mere cluster of cells, but these cells multiply and gradually specialize, following the instructions encoded within their DNA. Eventually, we emerge into the world, taking our first breath as a testament to the power of life's patterns.

Many of us as in on our life begin with a pattern of education to acquire the fundamental building blocks: reading, writing, arithmetic, and more. Even in our thought processes, ideas germinate and evolve, shaping our lives as we breathe life into them through books, music, acting, or any discipline we choose to pursue. While we may be drawn to various interests, we don't become experts overnight. We must nurture our skills and steadily improve, regardless of the domain in which we seek mastery. All involve patterns that we engage. These developmental processes are reminiscent of the Fibonacci patterns, unveiling the mathematical beauty inherent in nature. Moreover, in the Word of God, patterns also hold significant importance. The Bible emphasizes that "there is nothing new under the sun" (Ecclesiastes 1:9) and that the Lord declared "the end from the beginning" (Isaiah 46:10), underscoring the profound presence of patterns in our world.

The Bible also speaks of the concept (pattern) of a seed. God, the ultimate Creator, initiated the universe with His Word, which he described as seed (Matthew 13 - seed/sower parable where Jesus let’s us know that the the Word of God is Seed.), personified in Jesus (seed of God - Genesis 3:16, Matthew 1:16, 18, Galatians 3:16) and the Holy Spirit. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit collaborated to create the universe through divine patterns and frequencies: which is through the spoken Word of God (Jesus Christ, seed), God commanded, "Let there be light," and there was light. From this divine utterance (God’s Word is seed), creation unfolded in all its magnificent complexity (Genesis 1:3, John 1:1-3). So the concept of a seed contains the patterns that develop into creation in the physical and spiritual dimensions.

Patterns, therefore, play a pivotal role in our existence, shaping not only our world but also our very identities. When we connect with the ultimate pattern-maker, God, we align ourselves with the core of our being. Just as the sun rises and sets, as day turns into night, and as seasons come and go, patterns envelop us all around. Among these patterns, there is one of paramount significance: the Christian spiritual disciplines of reading, meditating, and studying the Bible, praying in our known language and prayer language, offering thanksgiving and praise, worshiping God consistently, and sharing our faith with others. By weaving these spiritual disciplines into the fabric of our daily lives, we draw nearer to God, aligning ourselves with the divine pattern He has instilled within us. In doing so, we become attuned to our true purpose, evolving into the individuals we were destined to be. Our connection to the divine patterns embedded within us becomes evident, patterns established by God even before our conception.

It has been said that words are the building blocks of life, but in reality, there is one word that stands as the ultimate building block of existence: the Word of God, Jesus Christ, who became flesh. In Him, all things were created and continue to exist. The Word of God is the ultimate pattern of life. Genesis affirms that humanity was made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27), and it is in God, particularly in Jesus Christ, that we find the perfect pattern for our lives. The patterns of life are intricately interwoven into the tapestry of our existence, and as we align with the divine pattern (receiving Jesus as Lord and Savior), we discover our true purpose and identity. In the patterns (Word of God, Jesus) established by God, we find the roadmap to fulfillment and the ultimate expression of our potential.
