Part 1: Approaching God with Faith

   November 8

Drawing closer to God is a universal aspiration among believers. It often involves a journey filled with obstacles and challenges, but with faith, you can always find a way. In this two-part series, we'll delve into the concept of making a way to God, even when it seems impossible.

When your heart is set on drawing closer to God, He reciprocates by drawing closer to you. This fundamental truth is reflected in James 4:8, which states, "Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you." This principle is vividly illustrated in various stories from the Bible. Consider the story of the woman who pressed through a dense crowd to reach Jesus, as described in Mark 5:25-34. Her unwavering determination and unwavering faith carved a path to Him. This exemplifies that when you are resolute in your pursuit, you can indeed find a way.

Likewise, the narrative of the friends of the paralytic who created an opening in the roof to bring their friend to Jesus, recounted in Mark 2:1-5, showcases remarkable commitment. The story of the Syrophoenician woman, as narrated in Mark 7:24-30, is another powerful testament to determination, where even the apostles initially discouraged her. Similarly, the Centurion, who believed in the transformative power of Jesus' spoken word, exhibited that finding a way requires faith (Matthew 8:5-13). All it takes is a mustard seed-sized faith, as mentioned in Matthew 17:20, and a firm belief in the Word of God. The Hebrew children's inability to enter the promised land due to their lack of faith serves as a reminder. Their story, as recounted in Hebrews 3:19, underscores that it's the belief in the Word of God that opens doors to miracles, even in the most adverse circumstances.

Part 2: Never Give Up - Keep Knocking, Keep Seeking

Even when circumstances appear insurmountable, recall the words of David: "If I make my bed in hell, you are there, God" (Psalm 139:8). Regardless of the challenges, God can pave a way. Persevere, keep knocking, asking, and seeking, as instructed by Jesus in Matthew 7:7. Peter, while walking on water, faltered due to distraction. However, his minuscule faith in Jesus saved him (Matthew 14:28-31). The story of the man with the demonized son, characterized by a blend of belief and doubt, showcases the power of determined faith, even if it is small, as seen in Mark 9:14-27.

Nothing is impossible with God, as stated in Luke 1:37. All things are attainable for those who believe in the Word of God. Your past should not shackle you; instead, focus on God's purpose for your future, as emphasized in Philippians 3:13-14. Be an exemplar, leading others to the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, even in His physical absence. Though we cannot see Jesus in the flesh, His words are ever-present. His words are imbued with spirit and life, as elucidated in John 6:63, and they can manifest miracles through your belief even if it is small. The juncture of the physical and spiritual realms occurs in your mind's eye, imagination, and heart. The Word of God, when spoken and believed, acts as the glue holding everything together and also can create what is needed.

To foster belief, utter the Word of God, even to yourself, or seek guidance from someone well-versed in the Word. The presence of fellow believers amplifies the power of faith. However, even in solitude, remember that God is with you, and you can always find a way, as He has promised. So speak the Word of God to yourself. God presents life and death before you and instructs you to choose life (Deuteronomy 30:19). In the face of tribulations, cling to the assurance that Jesus has conquered the world (John 16:33). He came to obliterate the works of the devil, and through the Word of God, you can always discover a path to overcome any obstacle.

Rejoice unwaveringly, just as the apostles did amidst dire circumstances. Recognize that God has not abandoned you; you are His cherished child, as declared in John 14:18. Through faith in the Word of God, you can continually find a way, even when it seems elusive.
