Transformation Through Faith and Revelation
October 2
In contemplating the journey of faith and personal transformation, one cannot help but reflect on the profound ways in which Jesus enters our lives. It's not a mere physical encounter but a spiritual awakening that occurs from within, a revelation that changes the very essence of who we are. This transformation is deeply rooted in the Word of God, as we'll explore through the lens of scripture. 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV) says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" This verse beautifully encapsulates the essence of our spiritual rebirth. As we invite Jesus into our hearts, the old self, bound by sin, begins to fade away. We are reborn, not of the flesh, but of the spirit.
This process of transformation is a battle against the forces of darkness. Ephesians 6:12 (NIV) reminds us, "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." However, our victory is assured because "greater is he that is with us" as 1 John 4:4 (NIV) affirms. The transformation within us parallels the transformation that occurs in the physical realm. Just as Jacob placed striped poles before Laban's goats, our perception shapes our reality. Genesis 30:37-39 (NIV) tells us that Jacob's actions led to the birth of striped and spotted livestock. What we see and believe in our hearts, we can produce in our lives. When faced with sickness, we can place our faith in the healing power of the blood of Jesus.
The story of the serpent on a pole in Numbers 21:8 (NIV) provides another poignant metaphor. To be healed from snake bites, the Israelites had to look upon the serpent on the pole. Similarly, we find healing when we fix our gaze on Jesus, who bore our sins on the cross, as indicated in 1 Peter 2:24 (NIV): "He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed." This transformation isn't limited to our physical bodies; it extends to every aspect of our lives. We tap into eternal promises and realizations as we internalize God's Word. Ephesians 2:6 (NIV) reminds us that we are seated with Christ in the heavenly realms. We can access the supernatural, a reality greater than anything on Earth.
In conclusion, our journey of transformation is a spiritual battle, but one in which we are assured victory through our faith in Jesus. We are new creations, old selves replaced by the Word of God. Just as Jacob's striped poles and the serpent on a pole represented transformation, we too can shape our reality by fixing our gaze on Jesus and His promises. It's a profound truth that goes beyond earthly medicine or human understanding. As we internalize these truths, we step into the glorious reality of being children of God, filled with His abundant life.
