In the pages of the Bible, there lies a profound lesson about faith and divine intervention. It harks back to the time when the children of Israel were wandering in the desert and were plagued by venomous snakes. The solution to their predicament was unconventional—God instructed Moses to construct a pole with a snake on it. Those who looked upon this peculiar remedy with unwavering faith would be healed (Numbers 21:8-9). This ancient story carries with it a timeless truth, one that holds the key to receiving miracles from God: keeping our eyes on His way of doing things.

To walk in the realm of the supernatural, experiencing healing, provision, guidance, and more, our focus must be firmly fixed on God's promises as revealed in Scripture. The Bible serves as our instruction manual, guiding us in the way we should go. Just as the Israelites had to keep their gaze on the serpent on the pole for healing, we too must maintain our focus on the Word of God for the manifestation of His promises in our lives.

A poignant example of this principle is found in the story of Peter walking on water. As long as he kept his eyes fixed on Jesus (the word of God made flesh John 1:14) he could defy the natural laws and walk on water as his Savior did (Matthew 14:29). However, the moment he shifted his attention to the turbulent waters beneath him, doubt crept in, and he began to sink. This narrative illustrates the choice we face in our walk with God: to keep our eyes steadfastly fixed on His promises or to allow the distractions and challenges of the world to cause us to falter.

Walking in the Spirit, then, means maintaining unwavering focus on God's promises. Scriptures like "by His stripes we are healed" (Isaiah 53:5), "He sent His word and healed all our sicknesses and diseases" (Psalm 107:20), and "meditate on the word day and night, and it is healing to all our flesh" (Proverbs 4:20-23) offer us a roadmap to divine healing. We are reminded of His promise for those who revere God that His name the sun of righteousness will "rise up with wings of healing and rays of light" (Malachi 4:2). These verses declare God's will for our well-being and invite us to meditate, declare, pray, and worship in alignment with His promises.

In matters of provision, we find Scriptures that teach us the principle of sowing and reaping: "Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over" (Luke 6:38). The principle of seedtime and harvest, as well as casting our bread upon the water (Ecclesiastes 11:1), alludes to the concept of divine provision as does Joshua 1:8 where success and prosperity are promised to those who mediate His Word and apply the instructions. When we fix our eyes on these benefits, making them the object of our meditations, declarations, prayers, and worship, we align ourselves with God's will for abundant provision.

Moreover, maintaining focus on God's promises requires us to adopt a contrary stance to the turbulence of the world. Jesus Himself acknowledged the trials we would face, saying, "In the world, you shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world" (John 16:33). Our choice to keep our eyes on Him, even in the midst of tribulation, keeps us anchored in the joy of His victory. Joy plays a pivotal role in our faith journey. Jesus endured the agony of the cross because of the joy set before Him (Hebrews 12:2)—the joy of bringing many to a saving knowledge of God. Similarly, we can find joy in the midst of trials when we fix our eyes on the ultimate outcome of our faith, trusting that light will shine even after the darkest night.

Ultimately, our willpower is crucial in maintaining focus on God's promises. Regardless of external circumstances, we must continually will ourselves back to His Word, standing firm on the assurance that His Word will not return void but will accomplish its intended purpose (Isaiah 55:11). Psalm 91 serves as a powerful reminder that, even when surrounded by death and destruction, we can find safety and protection by keeping our eyes on Jesus. He died and rose again for our salvation, enabling us to dwell in heavenly places with Him, shielded from the turmoil of this world.

In the New Testament, we encounter the story of Peter and John, imprisoned for their faith. While bound by chains, they chose to rejoice and worship God. Their unwavering focus on the Lord, even in dire circumstances, led to divine intervention (Acts 5:17-19). An angel was sent to set them free, illustrating how keeping our eyes on God's promises can lead to deliverance from seemingly impossible situations. As we journey through life, let us draw strength from these biblical examples and continue to believe in the promises of God found in His Word. May we trust not only for ourselves but also for the well-being of our loved ones, knowing that God's promises are true and His faithfulness unwavering. In keeping our eyes fixed on Him and His Word, we position ourselves to experience the miraculous and supernatural in our lives, as we walk in faith and obedience to His will.
