Unlocking the Healing Power of Objects and the Word of God
December 26
As I delve into the pages of the Bible, I am captivated by the objects that have been employed for healing and as potent signs of miracles and wonders. Among these, the first that springs to mind is Moses' staff—a simple wooden rod that astonishingly transformed into a serpent (Exodus 4:2-4). This miraculous event stands as a profound testament to the boundless divine power of God.
Furthermore, the Bible introduces us to other remarkable objects, such as healing cloths or fragments of clothing associated with revered figures. I recall a particular incident involving either Peter or Paul (Acts 19:11-12), where individuals would take a cloth that had touched them and lay it upon the sick or afflicted, resulting in miraculous healing. These instances serve as a testament to the inexplicable healing properties that certain objects possessed, suggesting a profound connection to the divine.
Another extraordinary account involves Jesus utilizing clay as a medium for healing. He applied clay to a person's eyes, and through this act, demonstrated the remarkable transformative potential of physical elements when infused with the Word of God (John 9:6).Moreover, we encounter the symbolic significance of bread and wine, representing the body and blood of Jesus. During the act of communion, it is believed by many that these elements undergo a profound transformation, becoming the very body and blood of Christ. Countless individuals have experienced healing through the act of partaking in communion correctly. However, it is crucial to heed the cautionary note in the Bible that improper communion can lead to dire consequences (1 Corinthians 11:23-30).
These occurrences beckon us to contemplate the transformative power of the Word of God within these objects. Could it be that when these objects are infused with healing properties, the Word of God is set free from them? After all, the Bible unequivocally states that the Word of God sustains and upholds the entirety of the universe (Colossians 1:17). This revelation holds the potential to unlock the secrets of harnessing these elements for purposes of healing and other divine endeavors. The Bible not only encourages but mandates us to lay hands on the sick for their recovery (Mark 16:18). Even our very hands are held together by the Word of God. When the Word of God touches a person, healing virtue flows, invoking the Word of God within the ailment, thereby initiating a restorative process. This concept beautifully aligns with the profound truth that the Word of God is both the Alpha and the Omega, encompassing the beginning and the end—forging a connection between sickness and the divine plan (Revelation 1:8).
The hands that heal and the sickness have something in common that is that the word of God hold both of them together. One, the healing hand has the word of God activated, and that activated hand as it touches the sick part activates the word of God in the sickness to start issuing forth a healing signal. I am wondering if that is possibly what might be happening when the laying on of hands for curative purposes is employed. In essence, it becomes apparent that even sickness and disease are upheld by the Word of God. Nevertheless, as individuals align themselves with God and His divine will, the Word of God within them harmonizes with the Word of God present in the curative elements. This alignment, akin to "deep calling unto deep," evokes the imagery of the Holy Spirit hovering over the waters before creation—suggesting a meditative and transformative process (Genesis 1:2).
Just as the Holy Spirit brought order to the formless and chaotic earth, our meditative alignment with God's Word has the potential to bring order to the chaos, sickness, and troubles that permeate our lives. It is as though we are summoning the Word of God to transform the void and chaos into alignment with God's will, reminiscent of the initial state of the earth before God proclaimed, "Let there be light"—emphasizing the transformative potency of the Word of God (Genesis 1:3). The practice of anointing people with oil, often associated with the Holy Spirit, takes on profound significance within this context. When oil becomes infused with the Word of God, it becomes a conduit for healing properties. This connection between the Holy Spirit, oil, and healing harmoniously aligns with the transformative nature of the Word of God.
The apostle Paul instructs us in Romans 12:2 not to conform to the world but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds, thereby enabling us to discern the will of God. This transformation, I believe, mirrors the process of meditating on the Word of God, hovering over situations with prayer, and declaring His Word to enact change. It ultimately aligns us with the good, perfect, and acceptable will of God, echoing the transformative work of the Holy Spirit in the beginning (Genesis 1:2). In these instances, it appears that the curative aspect of these objects and elements is activated when a person, made in the image of God, walks in His divine will, meditates, and aligns with God's Word. The Word of God, which sustains all things, is kindled in a godly manner, infusing these elements with healing properties.
Furthermore, as healing unfolds, others who draw near may experience a transmission of healing by focusing on the curative aspect of the Word of God. This phenomena harkens back to moments in Jesus' ministry when multitudes were healed as they recognized His divine authority (Matthew 14:35-36). The poignant story of the woman who touched the hem of Jesus' garment offers yet another compelling example. Her faith in the healing ability of Jesus ignited the Word of God within His clothing (actually it may have all ready been ignited because of its placement on Jesus), leading to her miraculous healing (Matthew 9:20-22). This account underscores the notion that objects in this world can be activated and infused with healing virtue through the power of the Word of God.
In conclusion, the Bible teems with accounts where objects and elements assumed healing properties through the Word of God. These occurrences illuminate the transformative potential of God's Word and suggest that through meditation, prayer, and alignment with God's divine will, we can summon healing and transformation across various aspects of life. Just as the Holy Spirit transformed the formless earth into a thriving creation, we too can usher order, healing, and blessings into the world by kindling the Word of God within ourselves and the elements surrounding us.
