Taking the Kingdom by Force: A Christian's Call to Spiritual Warfare

June 8

In the Christian life, there is a significant principle known as "taking the kingdom by force." This concept emphasizes the need to push through challenges with determination and faith. The Bible states that we are to take the Kingdom by force, implying an active and vigorous approach to our spiritual journey (Matthew 11:12).

Sometimes, we may not feel particularly spiritual or may even feel weary. Despite this, we must press forward, bulldozing our way through obstacles. When faced with challenges, we have a choice: to wallow in our struggles or to rise up and use our prayer language and the groanings of the Spirit to take ground, receive healing, and gain the wisdom we need (Romans 8:26-27).

When life becomes overwhelming and financial or personal difficulties arise, we must stand firm, using the Word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus' sacrifice and resurrection provide the foundation for our authority. By relying on the Holy Spirit within us, we can transform our lives from states of sickness and poverty to ones of health and prosperity, as promised in God's Word (Philippians 4:19, 1 Peter 2:24).

We are equipped with spiritual weapons to confront and overcome any storm. Just as Jesus spoke peace to the storm, we too can speak to our obstacles, bringing the peace of God into every situation (Mark 4:39). Through sheer determination in God, we can claim the promises of God, entering into the "promised land" by defeating the giants in our path through the power of Scripture, prayer, worship, and thanksgiving (Ephesians 6:12-18).

Scripture reminds us that we should not succumb to fear or other negative emotions. Jesus said, "Fear not; in the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world" (John 16:33). In James, we are encouraged to count it all joy when we face trials because these tests produce perseverance, leading to spiritual maturity (James 1:2-4). Our faith grows as we move from glory to glory, taking ground and refusing to be denied (2 Corinthians 3:18).

As believers, we are more than conquerors and can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. We have an anointing from the Holy One and, through the Holy Spirit, we can move mountains. By declaring God's promises and refusing to doubt, we activate the power of faith (Romans 8:37, Philippians 4:13, 1 John 2:20). It is not by might nor by power, but by the Spirit of the Lord that obstacles are removed (Zechariah 4:6-7).

Ensuring our hearts are free from unforgiveness and sin, we stand before God in repentance, ready to move forward in His strength (1 John 1:9). We choose joy and life, using our words to speak and declare God's promises. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God, and as we hear and declare God's Word, our faith builds substance, leading to the manifestation of God's promises in our lives (Romans 10:17, Hebrews 11:1).

Taking the kingdom by force involves using the Word of God, the power of the Holy Spirit, and the truths spoken by our Heavenly Father. God is not a man that He should lie; what He says is truth, and Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life (Numbers 23:19, John 14:6). He is our strength in weakness, our light in darkness. By taking the kingdom by force, we maintain and expand God's kingdom on earth, using worship, thanksgiving, and the weapons of our warfare found in Scripture (2 Corinthians 10:4-5).

In conclusion, we are called to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, trusting that all we need will be provided (Matthew 6:33). By taking a stand in faith, we witness God's provision, healing, and victory in every area of our lives. We can take the kingdom by force and walk in the fullness of God's promises.
