Living Within the Parameters of Faith: Understanding Our Authority in Christ

June 10

As Christians, our guidelines and boundaries are found in the Word of God, the Scriptures. By abiding by these divine parameters, we align ourselves with God's will and unlock the potential to receive His blessings. However, achieving this requires us to have the mind of Christ, which we cultivate through hearing and meditating on God's Word.

Scripture reveals that there are things God desires for us and things He does not. Some pursuits may fall outside His parameters, even if they seem appealing. Philippians 4:13 assures us that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Furthermore, 1 John 2:20 declares that we have an anointing from the Holy One, enabling us to know all things.

The essential point is our connection to God through the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me" (John 14:6). Accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior grants us the Holy Spirit, who guides us and connects us to God's throne of grace.

By humbling ourselves before Christ and allowing Him into our lives, we open the door to the realm where nothing is impossible with God (Matthew 19:26). However, everything must align with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Jesus, and God the Father. Understanding His will is crucial, and this understanding comes from immersing ourselves in the Scriptures.

Reading, meditating on, studying, and declaring the Scriptures build our faith, which is the interface between heaven and earth. Romans 12:2 tells us not to conform to this world but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds, achieved through engaging with God's Word. This renewal enables us to discern God's good, acceptable, and perfect will.

As believers, our rightful place is seated with Christ in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6), signifying our authority and position in God's hierarchy. Operating from this place of authority, we can achieve all things and gain divine knowledge. Jesus declared that we would do greater works than He did (John 14:12). His miraculous acts, such as walking on water, multiplying loaves and fish, healing the sick, and appearing to His disciples after His resurrection, demonstrate the possibilities available to us through faith.

Faith plays a crucial role in experiencing these miracles. Jesus could not perform many miracles in His hometown because of their unbelief (Mark 6:5-6). Belief is a choice that comes from hearing and accepting God's Word. Romans 10:17 states that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.

The journey of the Israelites to the Promised Land illustrates the consequences of unbelief. Despite having God's Word, most of the first generation did not enter the Promised Land due to their lack of faith. Only Caleb and Joshua, who believed, were able to enter (Numbers 14:30).

Humbling ourselves before God and seeking His guidance ensures that we operate within His will. This humility allows God to reveal what is necessary and how to accomplish it correctly. For instance, raising the dead may not always align with God's plan, especially if the individuals do not wish to return, but there may be times when this is God’s will. We need to be ready to accomplish His will for resurrection, and we can, because Jesus, as the resurrection and the life (John 11:25), exemplifies how all things are possible through Him.

In conclusion, living within the parameters set by the Scriptures and seeking the mind of Christ enables us to walk in God's will and experience His miraculous power. Faith, built on God's Word, is essential to this journey. By believing and acting on His promises, we align ourselves with His divine plan and unlock the fullness of His blessings.
