Seated in Heavenly Places: Our Divine Position
June 11
The Bible says, "In the presence of the Lord is fullness of joy" (Psalm 16:11). Psalm 16:8 states that the Lord is seated at my right hand. Mark 16:19 mentions that the Lord Jesus, after He had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God, the Father. Thus, Jesus is seated at my right hand, and the Father is seated at Jesus' right hand.
This indicates that we are right in the middle between God the Father and Jesus. The Father is on our left side, and Jesus is on our right side. The Holy Spirit, who resides in our hearts, covers us on all sides. We are surrounded by the Holy Spirit, with Jesus on our right and the Father on our left.
In the presence of the Lord is fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11). Ephesians tells us that we are seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:6). This is not a future promise but a present reality. Believing in the Word of God, we understand that we are right in the midst of the Godhead. This is an awesome place to be, where we feel protected and empowered.
We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13). The joy of the Lord is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10). Understanding our position according to the Bible, which is true and infallible, brings us joy. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life" (John 14:6). A merry heart does good like a medicine (Proverbs 17:22), so our health and recovery are found in God, seated in heavenly places, amidst the Creator of all, the Godhead three-in-one.
We can judge righteously from this position, rebuking sickness, poverty, and the devil. We can declare, "No more!" to these negative forces, casting them away from us. Paul encourages us to rejoice in the Lord always (Philippians 4:4). Our authoritative position allows us to take dominion on this earth, as intended from the beginning (Genesis 1:26-28). Although sin caused the devil to usurp our authority, Jesus, the Word made flesh, restored it through His sacrifice on the cross.
Jesus now sits at the right hand of the Father. By receiving Jesus, we are seated with Him, placing the Father on our left and the Holy Spirit within us. This grants us an awesome position in the Godhead, where we humble ourselves before the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This divine positioning fills us with joy, which strengthens and heals us.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God (John 1:1). Jesus is the Word of God, the Father is God, and the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of both the Father and Jesus. In this divine union, we find life. Hebrews 1:3 states that He upholds all things by the word of His power. Colossians 1:17 also affirms this.
Jesus restored what mankind lost. We are to see ourselves seated in heavenly places with Him (Ephesians 2:6). This understanding allows us to bring heaven into any hellish situation we encounter on earth. Negative circumstances no longer have a hold on us because we are seated in heavenly places while living on this earth.
When the enemy attacks, we have an advocate and a judge, and as the Bible says, we are also judges who will judge angels (1 Corinthians 6:3), so we have the authority to cast devils out of our lives! Our fight is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual principalities (Ephesians 6:12). From our position in the Godhead, we engage in this spiritual battle. We can see ourselves in this divine place at any time, a true position that brings authority and peace to our souls.
This heavenly position is available to anyone who receives Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Whoever does so can access this divine relationship and joy. We thank the Lord Jesus for His sacrifice, granting us fullness of joy.
