Engaging with God: A Profound Realization of Faith
June 16
As believers, we are called to walk in the same way we received Christ—by faith. This journey of faith starts with an invitation to Jesus to reside in our hearts and become our Lord and Savior. This profound experience, though initiated with our physical mouths, transcends physical senses. We engage with Christ without seeing, hearing, or touching Him physically, yet we experience His presence in a real and tangible way.
Scripture teaches us to "call things that be not as though they were," just as Abraham did (Romans 4:17). Our relationship with God involves believing in Him and experiencing His goodness in ways that surpass our physical senses. Psalm 34:8 encourages us to "taste and see that the Lord is good," comparing His goodness to honey from the rock.
The Lord's Supper is a physical representation of this spiritual reality. Jesus said, "I am the bread of life" (John 6:35) and "whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst" (John 4:14). As we partake in the bread and wine, representing His body and blood, we are reminded of His sacrifice and the sustenance He provides, much like the manna and water from the rock for the Israelites in the wilderness.
This understanding deepens as we realize that we can engage with God 24/7 on this physical earth. Though we do not see God the Father, He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, who was crucified and resurrected by the Holy Spirit. Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit, who now resides in us (John 14:26). Through the Holy Spirit, we receive the gift of speaking in tongues, which brings wisdom, healing, miracles, and deeper understanding of God's will for our lives (Acts 2:4).
The Bible assures us that God will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). He is closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24), and as we read the Word of God, we engage with Jesus, who is the Word made flesh (John 1:14). His words are spirit and life (John 6:63), giving us the confidence to declare, "by His stripes we are healed" (Isaiah 53:5, 1 Peter 2:24).
The still small voice within us is the Holy Spirit guiding us (1 Kings 19:12). We hear Him not with our physical ears but in our souls—our minds, wills, and emotions. As we delve into the Word of God, faith rises from within us, like a wellspring of living water (John 7:38). This faith empowers us to pray for healing, cast out demons, and overcome any challenge because of our relationship with God.
We are reminded that we are the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19) and that we are seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:6). As He is, so are we in this world (1 John 4:17). This truth means that we can overcome any adversity and destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8), just as Jesus did during His time on earth.
Even in the darkest moments, God is with us. King David wrote, "If I make my bed in hell, You are there" (Psalm 139:8). The Lord's Prayer teaches us to pray for God's will to be done on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10). We exist in two realms simultaneously—the physical and the spiritual. The spiritual realm, sustained by the Word of God, is the source of all creation and existence.
This morning, I had a profound realization of my relationship with the Creator. As I continue to study the Word, faith wells up within me, affirming my place as a child of God and empowering me to live out His purposes on earth.
