Walking in the Peace of God Amidst Struggles                                     August 16

Today, I found myself grappling with the weight of a difficult situation involving a family member who is battling widespread bone cancer (Isaiah 53:5). The prognosis is grim, with a mere 2 to 6 months without intervention, and the possibility of 1 to 2 years with radiation and chemotherapy. However, she has chosen to forgo treatment.

In the midst of this, I am contending with a spirit of heaviness, yet I am determined to maintain a positive outlook (Isaiah 61:3). I am pressing on, and I've been receiving guidance from the Lord regarding the importance of abiding in the kingdom of God (Romans 14:17). This kingdom is not defined by mere physical sustenance, but by righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

My focus must be on remaining in the spirit, rooted in God's word and His boundless love (Psalm 119:105, John 15:9-10). I am called to maintain this attitude, refraining from succumbing to anxiety (Philippians 4:6-7). Instead, I am encouraged to present my concerns before God through prayer, supplication, and thanksgiving. By doing so, His peace – a peace beyond understanding – will guard my heart through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7).

As a caregiver for a young man also facing a dire circumstance on the brink of death, I find myself confronted by the potential loss of two lives. In this challenging period, my anchor must be firmly set on Jesus, the resurrection and the source of life, the One who upholds all things (John 11:25, Colossians 1:17).

My focus shifts to the miraculous power of God, invoked on behalf of these two individuals (Mark 10:27). This commitment to peace roots me in the kingdom of God, and I am reminded not to stray from it. Even in moments of uncertainty, I admonish myself to abide in this peace, for Jesus remains steadfast. He is unchanging, constant throughout time, and I am not abandoned, for I draw near to Him, and He draws nearer to me (James 4:8). Through prayer, I can communicate in a language that transcends words (Romans 8:26-27).

It is crucial to divert my gaze from doctors' reports or negative circumstances. My attention must be fixed solely on Jesus, recognizing His ongoing work (Hebrews 12:2). His resurrection power, His healing ability – these are the forces at play. These individuals need to immerse themselves in this peace.

In an encouraging turn, my family member heard a preacher advocating for proactive steps of faith to bolster the healing process. So, she defied her weakened state and ventured out to the store. This embodies the essence of embracing the miracle-working power of God – taking steps of faith, not retreating to bedridden confinement.

Through all this, I am reminded that stepping into our miracles involves focusing on God's healing prowess rather than embracing the ominous reports from medical professionals. In summary, we must remain steadfast in the place of peace, resisting the pull of anxiety or fear, for God reigns supreme (Isaiah 41:10). He is present, surpassing the pain, transcending death, prevailing over adverse circumstances (Psalm 46:1-2). Amidst it all, His unfailing control is evident.
